Gerry Rosenthal recently achieved another “high water mark” in his legal career. On October 2, 2015, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Workers Injury Law and Advocacy Group (WILG) during their national meeting in Chicago. The black tie affair was attended by over 230 people with an appearance by Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth. Having received among other honors in the past the Bud Adams Award and the David H. Levine Leadership Award, as well as being Workers’ Compensation Section Chair, a founding member and Chairman of Florida Workers Advocates, a 20-plus year member of the Workers’ Compensation Executive Council, an initial Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation, and a long-time board member of the Florida Workers’ Compensation Institute, Gerry has now added a prestigeous national award for his 40-plus years of exemplary legal work.
Gerry has long been regarded as one of the most industrious and intelligent Workers’ Compensation Claimant’s attorneys in Florida, best known for his expertise in litigating cases involving the most complex medical and legal issues. Approximately six years ago he undertook what were likely the first “mass litigation” Workers’ Compensation cases in the nation. These cases involved hundreds of workers and the families of deceased workers who over a period of decades had been exposed to various harmful chemicals in large manufacturing plants that had been owned by multi-national corporations. These cases required Gerry to manage tens of thousands of pages of legal documents and medical records while pursuing esoteric medical theories with the top experts in the country. His expenditure of time, funding, and use of personnel was unprecedented in the area of Workers’ Compensation law.
The WILG Lifetime Achievement Award that Gerry received is recognition by the premier national Workers’ Compensation organization of Gerry’s unique intellect, professional acumen, unyielding and unending tenacity, and shear “chutzpah” that he has consistently brought to bear for his clients over the past 40 years.
Those of us who have the privilege of knowing Gerry personally and professionally have always recognized his profound legal skills and personal attributes. He has now received a national award and professional recognition which is well earned and rightly deserved.
Congratulations to our friend and colleague Gerry Rosenthal for receiving his “lifetime achievement award” from WILG.
