Pamela Rippens, Chief Operating Officer, DWP Solutions, parent company of Injured Workers’ Pharmacy.

Florida workers’ compensation system is designed to protect workers who become ill or are injured on the job, providing compensation for lost income and medical care, including physician services, hospital services, testing, prescription drugs, and medically necessary equipment. Unfortunately, not all situations are straightforward, and disputes often arise between injured workers and workers’ compensation insurance carriers. Attorney involvement in these situations helps injured workers secure the appropriate benefits to which they are entitled.

This course will focus on the delivery of prescription medication within this complex system. What types of pharmacies exist in the workers’ compensation system? What hurdles do pharmacies face in providing services and collecting payments for medications billed to workers’ compensation carriers? How are pharmacies reimbursed, and what distinguishes in-network pharmacies from out-of-network pharmacies? This course will delve into the nuances of the Florida workers’ compensation system, specifically as they relate to the provision of pharmacy services for injured workers.
