Florida Workers’ Advocates Mission
The purpose of the FWA is to protect and defend the workforce of Florida and particularly the rights of Florida‘s injured workers by providing a medium for cooperation and continuing education among lawyers representing the interests of injured and disabled workers and other persons interested in promoting injured workers and providing fair and just treatment to those workers who suffer workplace injuries and those who are dependent upon them.
To achieve this purpose, the FWA seeks to attract and promote the involvement of compassionate, dedicated individuals and organizations committed to the highest degree of professionalism and the protection of the rights of injured workers, and may take such action and engage in such activities, or assist other persons or organizations in such action or activities, as are consistent with the overall purpose and goals of the organization, including, but not limited to reaching out to and working with groups interested in providing fair and just treatment of Florida’s injured workers and their families encouraging active citizenship of its members through personal involvement and financial participation in the state elective process at the state and local level; assisting candidates for elective public office; educating and informing government officials and other organizations; striving to influence the passage or defeat of legislation to create fairness for injured workers, require benefits be furnished in a timely manner, and insure access to the courts; and participating in appropriate legal or administrative actions.
In support of this purpose, the FWA may also through a political action committee seek voluntary contributions from individuals and entities for the purpose of influencing the selection, nomination, election or appointment of any individual to any state or local public office and to foster positive legislation to promote a fair balance for all stakeholders in the workers’ compensation system.
